Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How many participants in a class?
It depends! A class limit applies so individuals and their challah can get the attention they deserve. Group classes are typically limited to 6 participants. Semi-Private have 3-4 participants, and Private is 1-2 participants. Prices vary depending on class setup. Classes can be virtual or in a person’s home. Classes are made up of you and your crew!
What’s the difference between a Challah Bake Event and a class?
A Challah Bake Event is a large group of people (20-100) where everyone makes and braids dough. The organizer must secure a location, tables, and promote the event to their community. A class is a small group of people who get individualized attention.
Do you do birthday parties for kids and adults? What about Team-Building events? What’s the difference between this option and a class?
Yes! Birthday parties and special events are so much fun! We can customize the event for your group from the challah lesson, to the interactions during the rising time, and more. The Kid’s Challah-Shaping Class has been popular in both an in-person and virtual format. Let’s talk!
Why are supplies and ingredients included an option?
I want to make your time learning both easy and fun. For some people, that includes not worrying about supplies and ingredients. However, some people follow different dietary laws and may be more comfortable providing their own. If you are providing your own ingredients, I will send a list prior to the class of specific ingredients, but not brand. When it comes to supplies, I actually love when people use their own measuring cups, bowls, and utensils. Why? Because it helps you get to know YOUR challah. My measuring cup may hold a different amount of flour than the one you use in daily life. Your bowl may be bigger and it will help you to learn the feel and look of dough in your bowl. But no fear, there isn’t that much of a difference and I’m happy to bring what we’ll need!
What do I come away with from the class?
All participants will leave with a hard copy of my recipe with tips, a digital braiding infographic, and a bit more confidence in their challah-making skills.
Can kids attend a virtual class?
Of course! Kids 13 and under are FREE*. My kids LOVE making challah. I also know that they don’t often participate in the whole process and that’s okay. Kids are welcome to hang out and help out. I just ask that we remain focused on challah making. If your child needs more attention, please be respectful to other participants and go on mute or walk to a different area to address their needs. *Unless it is a Kid-Specific event or a private event without confirming with organizer.
What happens if I can’t make it after I registered?
Life happens! I get it! If you register, pay, and notify me at least 24 hours before the class, we can reschedule. Notice under 24hrs, will be a case-by-case basis based on the type of class that was scheduled. A lot of prep goes into these classes 24 hours in advance (I make dough ahead of class to demonstrate braiding) and last-minute cancellations affect my time and schedule. I will do my best to reschedule. No-shows will not be reimbursed.
Challah Class Reviews

Sarah S.
In-Person Organizer and Participant
“Thank YOU for such an awesome event. It was really fun and you have such an amazing way of teaching the kids so clearly and keeping them engaged!”

Beth F.
In-person Participant
“There are people who bake and people who cook. I can easily cook on the fly, adjusting and modifying ingredients and flavors, but baking was overwhelming to me and I avoided it at all cost. I had the opportunity to do a challah baking class with Samantha Knight and in one class, she demystified baking. She made baking accessible to me and the best part is the challah she taught me to make was delicious! Since that class, I have made challah MANY more times and even started incorporating the flavor profiles I use for cooking within the challahs I am making.”

Ace M.
Virtual Participant
“Your challah class was so helpful with learning how to make and braid challah! For a first-time learner, you made it so easy to understand what to do!! I had a blast in your class!!

Rachel R.

“Sam is such a great challah baker and teacher. She designs her class in a way that makes it easy to follow along as you bake! Sam breaks down complicated braiding techniques and her tips for working with dough are fascinating!”
